The story behind this knife
A compact, lightning-bolt of culinary art designed to bring absolute precision and theatrical style to your daily prep work.
One of one. Never to be repeated.
"There is a distinct joy in using a highly specialized tool for small, intricate tasks. With this 120mm piece, I wanted to take the flat-profile functionality of a Japanese Nakiri and shrink it down into a nimble, utility-sized package. Forging copper into high-carbon 80CrV2 steel is an intense, volatile process, but the reward is a stark, theatrical line of fire running across a deeply dark, acid-etched blade."Korben Bloomfield

The Making of This Knife
Controlling the Melt: The Challenge of Copper
Forging with copper is one of the most stressful yet rewarding disciplines in custom bladesmithing. Copper melts at a significantly lower temperature than steel. If the forge gets just a fraction too hot during the laminating process, the copper will liquefy and run out of the billet, destroying days of work.
To create this 120mm piece, the heat cycles had to be managed with absolute surgical precision. Once successfully bonded, the next challenge was scaling the geometry down. Because a mini-Nakiri is small, every millimetre of the grind matters. We executed a thin, semi-convex edge that maximizes cutting performance while beautifully exposing the wavy path of the copper layer.
To preserve this dramatic contrast, the blade was given a dark acid etch and immediately sealed with our KWB Iron-Guard ceramic coating. The result is a compact, artistic powerhouse that excels at precision board work, prep tasks, and garnishes, while completely stealing the spotlight in any knife collection.
