The story behind this knife
An iridescent, 200-layer nickel masterpiece offering surgical tip control and hypnotic colour.
One of one. Never to be repeated.
"The classic triangular Honesuki profile is legendary for its control, but traditional versions can feel overly thick for delicate prep. With this piece, I scaled the silhouette into a slim, razor-sharp utility blade. Forging an ApexUltra core inside a jacket of over 200 layers of pure nickel Damascus gave us an incredible canvas, which we brought to life with a unique oil-spill surface patina that shifts vividly in the light."Korben Bloomfield

The Making of This Knife
Redefining the Japanese Triangular Blade
The Honesuki silhouette is one of the most distinctive shapes in Japanese cutlery—traditionally engineered with a stiff spine and a drop point for processing poultry. However, its angular tip and aggressive heel drop make it a dream profile for general precision work if ground correctly.
For this piece, the goal was to elevate that classic silhouette into a lightweight, high-performance laser. We built a billet featuring over 200 alternating layers of pure nickel and steel, cladding an ultra-hard ApexUltra core. After bringing the geometry down to a slim, razor-thin edge, we applied a specialized surface treatment to develop a permanent, oil-spill patina.
As light hits the blade, the nickel layers reflect a rainbow spectrum ranging from deep cobalt to fiery amber. Paired with a stunning turquoise stabilized maple burl handle, this piece bridges the gap between high-level metallurgical engineering and pure visual art.
