Heat Treat Service

We offer a heat treatment service, ideally for our billets but if its a steel we use often, we will heat treat from other sources. For stainless steel please contact us and we will check the heat treat process and quote directly. Please see options below for pricing. Please work top down through the options. The first of each steel type includes a flat rate cost for running the kiln, additional blanks in the same batch are far cheaper. If the options don't seem to fit your requirements or if you have a large quantity please send us an email and we can work our whats best. If you are on a tight budget we may be able to fit one or two in with another batch.

Blanks should be rough profiled at full thickness with any required holes drilled. Stainless or wrought iron clad San-Mai requires 45 degree bevels round the entire profile as described in the heat treat info on the listings. We are happy to do that for you if needed but please leave your profile over-sized so it can be neatened up post heat treat. We guarantee a straight (within reason) and crack free blade and any potential problem areas will be discussed beforehand. Tempering will be done to our standard hardness for each steel and knife type, please leave a note on the order or email us if you have any specific requirements.
